James passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at his home with his family by his side at the age of 78. The son to the late Hans and Lillian (Sautter) Arnold was born May 30, 1946 in Bay City, Michigan. James proudly served in The U.S. Army. He was in the 101st Airborne in the Vietnam War where he earned his Purple Heart. James was also part of the Dog Scout Handler during the Vietnam War. James was the owner of Arnold and Sautter Company for many years. He enjoyed working, bowling, being in the outdoors, hunting and spending time with his family.

James is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ardythe (Streu) Arnold; children, Matthew (Amy) Arnold, Kristina (Matthew Paul) Arnold, and Steve (Lindsay and her children) Arnold; grandchildren, Chase (Maddalynn) Arnold, Caden Arnold, Baylee Arnold, and Lukas Arnold; sister, Carol Johnson; niece, Diane Webb and her children, Rachel Webb and Reagan Webb; brother-in-law, Allan Streu. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Duane Johnson.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home. Military Honors will be at 2:00 p.m. conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. A burial for James, will take place on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly Michigan. in lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to Veterans Homeless Solutions Inc.
