He was born May 06, 1943 in Hines, Georgia, a son of the late Ed and Glovie Atchison.
Raised in Mobile, Alabama, James was an avid Alabama fan! He loved history, hunting, fishing, preaching, and singing. He was a member of Olive Baptist Church and he was a retired teacher from Pace Hight School, Pace Florida, which is his proudest accomplishment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Glovie Atchison; daughter, Juneau (David) Everett; and brother, John "Bud" (Carolyn) Atchison.
His is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Harriette Ellen Atchison; son, Jae (Missy) Atchison; brother, Jack (Pauline) Atchison; step-children, Lore (Rick) Conway, Melissa White, Greg Jernigan, and Sue Jernigan; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Whitmire Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida 32514 at 11:00 AM.
