Mr. James Landon Autry, 85, of 328 Carroll Store Rd, Autryville, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026, at his home. He was surrounded, as he had been over the weeks leading up to his passing, by his devoted children.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, March 17, at 3:00 PM, at Clement Baptist Church, with Pastor Caleb Autry and Pastor Bryan Strickland officiating. A private family burial will be held following the service.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 17 at 2:00 PM prior to the service.
Born on January 22, 1941, in Sampson County, Landon was the son of the late Henry Carl Autry and Vezula Bass Autry. He, along with his son, Ricky, was the owner of Autry Masonry and had the reputation of being unmatched at his craft, as well as in his work ethic. Until extended health issues dictated otherwise, he was an active member of Clement Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon, Elder, member of the Corporate Board and on various other committees. He was a man of deep, unwavering faith. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Among his many other talents, Landon was also an accomplished pianist/musician.
Left to cherish and honor his memory are daughters, Tammy Honeycutt of Clinton; and Tracey Gansel (George) of Mesa, Arizona; son, James Ricky Autry of the home; and grandson, James Landon Autry, II, of Leland.
In addition to his parents, Landon is preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Joyce Faircloth Autry; in-laws, Lorraine and Ruth Faircloth; and son-in-law, Dr. Ronald Honeycutt.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his 3HC Hospice Nurses, Amanda Wright, Kaitlyn Mitchell and Megan Crespo, for their amazing care and support during this time.
