James Emmett Aylor

James Emmett Aylor (Jim) was the first of eight children born to Monroe and Macie Aylor. He made his arrival March 2, 1940 in Ogden, AR. Jim graduated from Ashdown, AR. in 1958. In his younger years growing up poor, Jim worked many jobs to help his mom put food on the table for the seven siblings that followed.

Immediately after graduation Jim joined the Navy for a four year stent. That landed him in CA, Corpus, the Philippines and a ship named USS Ticonderoga. During that time he met and married JoAnne and from that union two children were born, Randy and Vikki. Jim held various jobs, one he enjoyed talking about was Wells Fargo. Moving to Dallas was the catalyst to the position with the Dallas Police Department. Originally the purpose was stability and a decent salary. It became his passion and pride. He received his college degree from Abilene Christian College while working full time with DPD. Everyday Jim put on his uniform was a proud day. The Patrol Division would be where Jim's entire career was spent reaching the rank of Sergeant. Those days would be just shy of thirty years, 1968 through October 1997.

June 9,1981 Jim and Montie married in Las Vegas at one of the little chapels on the strip. This started an adventure that lasted for 43 years, 10 months up until Jim met Jesus on May 1, 2025 11:09 AM, at Baylor Hospital with a guitar playing & softly singing It Is Well With My Soul, while Montie and Terrah held his hand showering him with LOVE.

This marriage brought with it step children, Lance, Leah and Greg. There are many testimonies of what Jim meant to each one of them. Terrah, our granddaughter moved into our home after Jim's retirement. That started the car pooling and everything that goes along with 14 year olds. Jim took on that role without a complaint and with much love.

So, when did Jim find time for his real passion CYCLING?? He just made it work. He started riding in the 1970's and rode his bike until March 2025. The twosome Jim and Montie's cycling adventures were many. The bikes were a fixture on the vehicles headed to weekend organized rides, Tuesday and Thursday Clown rides at White Rock Lake and to many different states for rides of 4 to 5 days duration.

During the DPD years there were many Extra jobs and a commercial landscape company he founded and named Green Grounds.

After retirement, Jim continued his avid reading and collecting first edition books, photography, working ten years, part time for DMN doing photography for the Shopping the Town section, volunteered at Austin Street Homeless Shelter, Senior Source, Bill Glass Prison Ministry as a driver for the speakers, parking lot ministry at SFBC, benevolence ministry and delivering Meals on Wheels since 2009. Devoted Razorback fan. He was a novice photographer of all things. He enjoyed his Clown recumbent riding group, Starbucks coffee buddies, Abundant Joy SS class and men's monthly breakfast at the Bull Pen.

All of the life adventures mentioned here cannot be compared to the true meaning of Jim's life. God had His hand on Jim and early 1990's, Jim started to read his Bible and study more in depth. He repented of his sins and rededicated his life to Christ. He was thankful while wondering Why Me Lord, a favorite song. He was baptized at SFBC. He prayed silently within his soul for others to do so. He grieved his shortcomings and sin, praying it did not deter any loved one from the most important decision in their life, Accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Jim is preceded in death by: Monroe, Maci, and Leon. Jim is survived by his loving wife of almost 44 years Montie, son Randy/Aileen, daughter Vikki/David, step children: Lance/Sheli, Leah, Greg/Dalia, daughter by choice Terrah/Jeremy. Pa to: Amber, Jake, Jordyn, Mallisa, Zak, Lucas, Ryan, Michael, Alysse, Jay, Megan, Garrett. Great grands: Campbell, Savannah, Callan, McCoy, Jett , Rome. Sisters: Carolyn, Jane, Judy, Kathy, brothers: Thomas, Jimmy.
