James Bachofer Obituary

Lakeside, San Diego, CA. Born on January 8, 1942, James led a fulfilling life marked by his dedication to his family and his country.

A beloved father, grandfather, brother, husband, and friend, James's presence was a source of strength and love for those around him. He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly and Tamara Bachofer; and his grandsons, Darrin and Dawson, and sister Paula Duffield. His life was preceded by the passing of his parents, Bessie Betty Bachofer and Paul Andrew Bachofer.

James proudly served in the US Navy, where he embraced the discipline and camaraderie that military life offered. His time in the service deeply influenced his personal and professional life, instilling values that he carried forward into his civilian career.

After his military service, James pursued higher education at Cal Poly University, which laid the groundwork for his distinguished career in civil engineering. He was the Chief Engineer and Business Owner of CDS Engineering and contributed significantly to major projects such as the Alaskan Pipeline and engineering endeavors in Saudi Arabia. His professional legacy is characterized by a keen analytical mind and a robust work ethic.

Beyond his professional and military life, James had a passion for the outdoors and adventure. He enjoyed spearfishing, scuba diving, motorcycle riding across Baja Mexico, and golf. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his daughters and grandsons, imparting life lessons and sharing experiences that will forever hold a place in their hearts.

James Nelson Bachofer will be remembered for his profound impact on his family, his contributions to engineering and national infrastructure, and his unwavering spirit of adventure. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him and loved him.
