James "Byron" Baldwin, 85, of Waterville, Ohio passed away August 23, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was born November 4, 1939 in Colton, Ohio to the late Archbold and Ruth (Holden) Baldwin. He married Carole "Jane" Lybarger on June 28, 1959 and she survives in Waterville.

Byron served as a proud member of the Ohio Air National Guard for six years as part of the 112th Fighter Tactical Squadron. Byron worked as an operating engineer for Local 18 and was a member for 60 years. He was employed by the George Gradel Company as both a Heavy Equipment Operator and Foreman for many years. He was a loyal member of the Neapolis Church of Christ for 68 years where he served as a Deacon, Eldor and Trustee over several of these years. In addition, he played for the church baseball team, taught Sunday School, and taught youth groups. He also enjoyed his membership and fellowship at the Napoleon Moose Lodge.

In his free time, Byron enjoyed spending time doing yard work and sitting by his pond feeding the fish. Byron and Jane enjoyed traveling to the beach in Florida as well as many camping trips. His greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Along with his wife of 66 years, Jane, Byron is survived by his children: Cindy Bruns of Maumee, Ohio, Daniel (Toni) Baldwin of Grand Rapids, Ohio and Thomas (Sue) Baldwin of Napoleon, Ohio, son-in-law Rick Triggs of Neapolis, Ohio, grandchildren Jeremy (Mindy) Bruns, Shannon (Josh) Jacobs, Nick (Hannah) Bruns, Mandie (Eric) Pirolli, Cory (Tasha) Triggs, Natasha Triggs, Jacob (Natasha) Triggs and Blake (Alayna) Baldwin and 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Pat Baldwin and brother-in-law Robert Connell.

Byron was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Dawn Triggs, brother Earl Baldwin and sister Evelyn Connell.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 27, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 6603 Providence St. Whitehouse, Ohio 43571. His funeral service will be held on Thursday August 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Neapolis Church of Christ, 8221 Main St. Neapolis, Ohio 43547. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to Neapolis Church of Christ.
