Jean M. Cox

Jean M. Cox, age 94, died on January 8, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 31, 1931 to Dutch immigrant father, Hubert Jansen and mother, Minnie Jansen.
After living in Minneapolis, MN, Wawatosa, WI, and Detroit, MI, the family moved to Toledo in 1941. Jean was a 1949 graduate of Notre Dame Academy and attended the University of Toledo where she was active in theater.
Jean met her husband, Richard Cox, at UT and they were married on January 24, 1953.
She was employed by Owens-Illinois Glass Company at the Douglas Center. Her hobbies included skiing, cycling, boating, gardening and water aerobics. She also loved watching the antics of birds, squirrels and other wildlife from the kitchen window. Her favorite volunteer job was with Mobile Meals in Whitehouse, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, and brother Hubert (Mike) Jansen.
Jean will be dearly missed by her six children, Kathy Holmes, Lyn Cox, David Cox, Julie Theroux (Shawn Litzer), Steve Cox and Nancy (Dave) Honaker. Also grandchildren Valerie Lawson, Tiffany Lemos, Erin Starr, Brittany Work, Taylor Ferguson, Aubrey Marbumrung, Sierra Hendrix, Joe Cox, Daniel Cox, Matthew Cox, Drake Honaker and her 7 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held for Jean on Wednesday January 14, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home located at 6603 Providence St. Whitehouse, Ohio 43571. Friends and family will be received from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Interment will be held privately at Toledo Memorial Park.
