James Ruffin Ball, Jr. "Jimmy" 76, of Franklinton passed away on July 12, 2025. He was born on December 10, 1948 to Cleo and James Ruffin Ball, Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife JoAnn, his parents, his brother Jerry Ball and sisters Betty Jo Thomas and Jean Hedgepeth.
He leaves behind his son, Chad Ball (Sherry); daughter, Amanda Ball; grandchildren, David Ball, Hannah Ball, Morgan Tengowski and Mason Tengowski. His sisters Kay Mendenhall, Debbie Harper, and Gale Maulden, his father in law Joe Collins, sister and brother in law Carol and Phillip Abbott, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunt and cousins.
Jimmy graduated from Franklinton High School in 1967. He was a lifetime Franklinton resident who owned Ken's Quickie Mart in downtown where many would gather to play cards or sit and talk. He then worked in the warehouse at Glaxo where he retired. Over the years, Jimmy could be seen around town eating at City Lunch or Hometown Cafe. He loved playing golf or watching golf and baseball on TV. He and JoAnn were married for 52 years and their four grandchildren were their greatest joy. He was lovingly known as Pops and will be greatly missed.
Jimmy will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Franklinton after a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the church or charity of your choice.
