James David Bargeron Sr.

1937 - 2026

James David Bargeron, Sr. lived a life marked by hard work, quiet strength, and deep devotion to the people he loved. He proudly served his country in the National Guard, retiring with the rank of Major in 1976. After his military service, he continued his dedication to providing for his family through a long career at International Paper, where he retired in 1988.

James was a devoted Christian man who loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart. His faith guided him, sustained him, and shaped the way he treated others-with kindness, humility, and a steady, gentle spirit. His love for the Lord extended beyond his home and community; James also participated in missionary work in Honduras and China, sharing his faith and helping others with compassion and sincerity.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Clara Free; and his son, Russell Bargeron, whose memory he carried with him always. Though he experienced great loss, he met life with resilience and a loving presence that anchored his family.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Bargeron; his children, James Bargeron Jr., Patrick Bargeron Sr., and Serena Hargrave-Joyner; and his loving brother, Lee Bargeron. James was also a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. His legacy continues through his grandchildren-Mitchell Bargeron, Patrick Bargeron, Casey Bargeron Lown, Ryan Bargeron Brown, Lance Hargrave, and Lily Joyner-as well as his great-grandchildren, each of whom carries forward a piece of his spirit, his lessons, and his love.

James's life was defined not only by his service and work, but by the relationships he built, the faith he lived, and the family he cherished. His legacy lives on in the stories shared, the lessons passed down, and the love he gave so generously.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Monday March 2, 2026, from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at Thomas L. King Funeral Home.
