James Barron Obituary

BARRON, James David

September 27, 1956 -

March 8, 2025

James David Barron, 68, of Gainesville, GA, passed away at his home on March 8, 2025. Born on September 27, 1956 in Clarkesville, GA, David lived a life full of passion, hard work, and love for his family and friends.

David is survived by his two sons, Evan Barron (Brittni) and Colt Barron (Alexandra); and his two siblings, Greg Barron (Debbie) and Cindy Foster (Tommy). He will be laid to rest with his parents, Gerald Barron of Lawrenceville, GA and Ann McCord of Covington, GA. He was a proud grandfather of 3 wonderful girls, Emmie, Brooke, and Maddie, and loved spending time with them creating memories that will live on in their hearts forever. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

David's professional journey was one of remarkable achievement. As the first employee of PM Technologies, he played a pivotal role in shaping the company's transportation division from the ground-up. Serving as the Vice President of the company since its founding in 2001, he helped expand the business across the United States. His leadership and passion for the company's growth and culture were unmatched, and his legacy in the business world will be remembered by those who had the privilege of working with him.

Beyond his professional life, David was an avid fisherman, a loyal Tennessee Football fan, and a lover of the game of golf. He had a distinguished athletic career starting at Tower's High School in Dekalb County, GA. David played football as a defensive end/OLB for The University of Tennessee from 1974 to 1978 and then was signed by the Dallas Cowboys in 1979 as an undrafted free agent. He cultivated a wonderful group of lifelong friends through his many years in athletics and will always be known for his passion and love for the game.

He had a special gift for bringing people together, whether it was sharing a meal, reminiscing about past adventures with friends, or simply enjoying a peaceful afternoon with loved ones. He found joy in feeding his friends and family, always ensuring everyone felt welcome and cared for. David was known for his warmth, generosity, and infectious sense of humor. He lived life to the fullest and was deeply loved by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on March 29, 2025, at Smoke Rise Baptist Church, located at 5901 Hugh Howell Rd., Stone Mountain, GA 30087, 10 AM.

He will be greatly missed but forever remembered.

David was our Captain, our leader, and our friend on the Towers Football Team. He was always cool headed, never even a flash of anger. If you were his opponent, he would hit you as hard as he could, knock you down, help you up, and ask if you´re okay. That the kind of guy David was. May your soul rest peacefully, my dear old friend.

I enjoyed having David as a teammate on several Midway and Towers teams. When I think of those days, my first thought is of the close bond David had with Greg, always his best friend and biggest supporter. Together they generated a lot of comraderie and enthusiasm which greatly influenced the rest of us. My condolences to Greg and the rest of the Barron family. David´s memory is a blessing to us all.

I was fortunate to have played football at Towers along side David during his senior season. And a wonderful season it was! He treated this young sophomore with the respect afforded to upperclassmen. For that I am forever grateful. My condolences to the Barron family, may you find comfort in remembering the good times and memories with David.

I knew David at Tennessee. We were Fraternity brothers in 1985 until Coach Battle pressured he and Hays Gilliam to quit the fraternity. He was a great guy and a good friend back then. Great Football player too. He anchored Tennessee´ defensive line in the `77 and `78. This is tragic.
