James Tilghman Barrow
August 22, 1966 – June 9, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the unexpected passing of James Tilghman Barrow, known affectionately as Jim-on Monday, June 9, 2025.Born in Murray, Kentucky on August 22, 1966, Jim departed this life unexpectedly, leaving a void that will be profoundly felt.

Family & Loved Ones
Jim is survived by the love of his life of 36 years, Tanya Barrow. He was a proud and loving father to C.J. Barrow (and wife Amy), Rebecca Harris (and husband Brandon), and Morgan Barrow. He was a deeply adored "Pawpaw" to his cherished grandkids-Shelby (and husband Matt), Carl, Alyssa, Staley, Michael, Remington, and Ashton-who brought him endless joy.

Also surviving him are his devoted mother Mary Barrow, his brother Ricky Barrow (and wife Emily), and a circle of nieces and nephews whom he adored and loved just as deeply as his own children. Not to be forgotten is his beloved canine companion, "Princess Lucy," who held a special place in his heart.
Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Rachel Adams, Tilghman and Rebecca Barrow, Bonus Grandmother Jesse Jones-Roberts-Barrow, and his devoted and loving father Hal Barrow.
He worked tirelessly to provide a good life for those he loved, and his loyalty, love, and strength will be carried forward in the generations he helped raise.

Life & Career
Jim served both in the U.S. Navy and the Army National Guard, proudly dedicating himself to service and country. For over 23 years, he built a valued career with Oceaneering in Virginia-a testament to his work ethic, skill, and loyalty.

A natural mechanic, Jim was the go-to backyard expert for any project. Whether coaxing an engine to purr or fixing what everyone else thought was beyond repair, he brought boundless talent and patience to every task. But above all, he placed his family at the center of his world-working tirelessly to provide, support, and build a foundation of love and stability.

Legacy & Remembrance
Jim's loss is keenly felt not only by his family, but by the broader community whose lives he quietly touched. His generosity, humor, and unwavering commitment to hard work leave an enduring mark.

Memorial Service
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Amory Funeral Home in Yorktown, Virginia. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering a man who gave everything for those he loved.
