James Bednarczyk Obituary

Published by Legacy on Apr. 4, 2025.
James "Jim" Stanley Bednarczyk, age 83, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2025 after a battle with Alzheimer's disease. Jim was born April 9, 1941 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from Vocational High School in 1959 and went on to proudly serve in the Army Reserves.
On September 22, 1962, Jim married Maureen Emerson. He and Maureen together raised their two sons in Crystal before moving to Brooklyn Park. Jim worked as a journeyman electrician with IBEW Local 292 throughout his career.
As a family, Jim and Maureen cherished vacations, including skiing trips and time at the lake. They especially enjoyed time at the family cabin in Alexandria where they created lasting memories. Jim also found joy in attending his grandchildren's sporting events and watching them revel in their time at the lake.
After retiring, Jim and Maureen made many new friends in Surprise, Arizona. Jim enjoyed entertaining, puttering around the yard, and going to breakfast with his buddies. In his later years, Jim found comfort in spending time at his home in Brooklyn Park with Maureen. Following her passing in February 2024, he cherished the time and conversations with his grandson, Ryley, before eventually moving to Amira Choice. Jim enjoyed being around the staff and other residents at the facility, and especially the food!
Jim is survived by sons, David (Theresa) of Andover and Thomas (Laurie) of Forest Lake; granddaughters, Brooke, Kaylie and Molly; grandson, Ryley; great-grandchildren; Maya, Hailey, Hendrix, Lylah and Princeton. He will be missed by many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Maureen, and his parents, Stanley and Dorothy Bednarczyk. Memorial service at 11 am on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 with visitation prior at 10 am at Glen Haven Chapel, 5125 W. Broadway Avenue, Crystal, MN 55429. Lunch will be served following service.
Memorial in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
