James Belcher, a devoted volunteer firefighter and pillar of his community, passed away on May 20, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service, compassion, and kindness. Born in Odessa, Texas, to James Earl Belcher Sr. and Melloleane Wright, James grew up to graduate from Permian High School.
With a lifelong commitment to serving others, James began his volunteer firefighting career 32 years ago. For the past 17 years, he dedicated his time and efforts to the South Ector County Volunteer Fire Department, earning the respect and admiration of his peers and the community. James' selfless service and generosity touched countless lives, and his impact will be felt for years to come.
In addition to his firefighting work, James delivered pizzas for Pizza Hut and ran his own car wash business. He also worked at Wilson's Corners, where he was a beloved face amongst coworkers and customers.
James is survived by his loving sister, Melissa McNerney; brother, James Joiner; nieces, Brittany Baker and Rashelle McNerney; nephew, Curtis Roberson Jr.; and a host of great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Earl Belcher Sr. and Melloleane Wright; sister, Gail Belcher-Roberson; and nephews, Money Joe Belcher and Curvert Roberson.
Visitation will be held Friday May 30, 2025 from 1:00PM - 9:00PM at Martinez Funeral Home "West Chapel" 10137 W. University Blvd Odessa, Texas 79763 with A Celebration of Life at 7:00PM.
A Chapel Service is set for 1:00PM Saturday May 31, 2025 at Martinez Funeral Home "West Chapel" 10137 W. University Blvd Odessa, Texas 79763.
The family will cherish the memories of James' kindness, generosity, and dedication to his community.
