James Arthur Bergandine, 75, of Delaware passed away Thursday evening, December 4, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born September 19, 1950, in Alton, Illinois to the late Frank and Verna (Cushman) Bergandine and later graduated from Big Walnut High School in 1969.
After taking classes at Columbus Technical Institute, Jim started working for the Ohio Department of Transportation and spent 38 years there before retiring in 2007 as Electrical Projects Coordinator. He was a member of the Hiram Masonic Lodge #18 of Delaware and former member of the Delaware Elks Lodge # 76. He enjoyed working, tending to his yard and flower gardens, and tinkering on several projects around the house. He cared most about making sure his family was taken care of and would always lighten the mood with his sharp sense of humor.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 41 years, Debra "Debbie" (Winters); daughter, Amy Bergandine (Rob Fricker) of New Albany; daughter, Angela Kitchen; son, Tom Bergandine; four grandchildren; brothers, John Bergandine of Harmony, North Carolina, Charles (Karen) Bergandine of Ostrander, Robert Bergandine of Provincetown, Massachusetts, and Jeffrey Bergandine of Columbus; sisters, Susan Churchill of Westerville and Barbara (Duncan) Whitney of Delaware; sister-in-law, Diane Winters of Delaware; brother-in-law, David (Dawn) Winters of Delaware; numerous nieces and nephews; and grand puppy, Jacob.
In addition to his parents, Jim was also preceded in death by his sister Anne Stockert.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 11 a.m. – noon at the Snyder Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive at W. William St., Delaware, where services celebrating Jim's life will follow at noon. Inurnment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. The St. Mary Bereavement Ministry will then host a luncheon in the Snyder Funeral Center Community Room.
