James Bielicki Obituary

Published by Legacy on May 8, 2025.
James Bielicki, Jr., died peacefully at home on Thursday, April 24, with his loving wife, Sherry, beside him. He was 60 years young. Together, they journeyed through life, hearts united, until one departs & the other is left broken. Together, they shared two beautiful children, Zachery & Logan (Matthew), raised a family & made a home, with as much love as they could give. The family has grown with the addition of a beautiful grandson, James Matthew, and another on the way later this year.
Proud to be a native-Delawarean, Jim worked hard all his life & built his own business, East Coast Survey, from the ground up. He was very proud of the fact that he was a self-made man & part-entrepreneur. Naturally gifted both intellectually & physically, he tackled most every challenge he faced. If he didn't know how, he read up on it, gave it a few tries, & then typically mastered it. He told anyone who asked that they could do it, too, through hard work & dedication. If you dream it, you can build it.
Jim was an accomplished Professional Land Surveyor (PLS), well-respected in his field by both his colleagues & the State of Delaware, (appointed by the Governor), holding several positions on the board as a member, past president & current vice-president.
He was quick-witted with a raw, sometimes warped but always funny sense of humor which his friends, but not always his family, greatly appreciated. This sometimes made him hard to warm up to or love, but he was always worth it, as once he considered you a friend, you were a friend for life. He valued loyalty & friendship above all others, but God help you if you crossed him!
Jim enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, listening to good music, & playing trivia. He attended many concerts over the years with his family & his friends. Many good friends were made through the original Hammerheads' trivia tribe in Dewey Beach, his favorite local beach, where he also made a second home, Rebel Palms. He was quite the car collector, owning both muscles & exotics, & a Harley enthusiast.
Jim is also survived by his mother, Marian Gregg, his sister-in-law, Vicky Child, the Virginia family, his loyal work family, Richie Mulhern & Robb Orzechowski, & many lifelong friends & business associates, all of whom are mourning his loss as well. There will be no services. According to his wishes, he has been cremated. The family will be taking some time to mourn & heal. There will be a private celebration of his life sometime this summer.
Though cancer won the war, Jim did not make it easy, being a 10-year+ survivor. Please consider donating some time or money to your local cancer group or maybe attend a fundraiser if you're able. The type doesn't matter as cancer does not discriminate & has unfortunately touched us all either personally or through those we love.
RIP, my baby-love...
