SMSgts. James Loyd Black, USAF, Ret., 90, of Weir, Mississippi passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at G. V. Sonny Mongomery V.A. Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Jordan Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow the visitation at 12:00 p.m. at French Camp Cemetery. Chaplain John Chatham will officiate the service.

James was born September 23, 1934, in Mississippi to his parents, Jessie Lee Black and Maggie McHan Black. He graduated from Weir High School in 1954. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force in June 1954 and served until his retirement as a Senior Master Sergeant in July 1982.

James married the love of his life, Kathryn Moss, on December 28, 1957, until she passed away in 2023. He had a passion for hunting and fishing.

James is survived by his brothers, J.W. (Wilma) Black of McCool, Mississippi and Billy (Geraldine) Black of Weir, Mississippi, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Lee Black and Maggie McHan Black; brothers, Bobby Charles Black, Stedmon Lamar Black, and Edward Earl Black; and sister, Edna Pearl Power.

The Keturah Brown family wants to extend a special acknowledgement to Community Living Center for the wonderful care they gave to James.

Pallbearers are John O’Kelly, T.Y. Martin, Shane Talley, Rusty Bowman, Nathan Stevens, and Waverly Yeatman.

Memorials may be sent to French Camp Academy, 1 Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745.
