James H. Bovat, 81, of Watertown, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024. Born July 3, 1943 in St. Albans, Vermont. James was a son of the late Harold and Jennie (Tatro) Bovat. He was a loving longtime companion of Janice Brower whom he has missed greatly since 2009.
True to his Vermont roots he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jim was a hard worker whom spent more than 30 years working as a lineman for CL&P. Upon his retirement from the company, he enjoyed many trips to our local casinos. He was also a big fan of scratch tickets, somehow, he was always a "Winner"!
In more recent years Jim enjoyed doing diamond art pictures, in which he took great pride. If you complimented one of his creations, it immediately became yours. One of Jim's most important and cherished roles was that of working the raffle ticket tent every year at Relay for Life. He enjoyed many years alongside his daughter, Wendy Cote, at relays and at home until her passing two years ago.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Peter Bovat (Laura) of FL, his daughters Kelly Lukas (Paul) of Prospect, and Dawn Grenier (Joe) of Thomaston. Jim also leaves his brothers Darold Bovat and Danny Bovat.
He also leaves his cherished grandchildren: Jeffrey, Robert, Sara, Matthew, Evan, Melanie, Joey and Joshua as well as great-granddaughters Keliana and Malaynah.
Besides his beloved Janice and Wendy, Jim was predeceased by his brother Patrick Bovat, Sr.
Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to assist and care for the Bovat family during their journey of grief and invites you to share your words of comfort for them on Jim's tribute wall at prospectmemorial.com.
