James "Jim" Olen Bowling May 28, 1936 – June 7, 2025
James Olen Bowling, known to most as Jim, was born on May 28, 1936, in Octavia, Oklahoma, to parents Lawson D. Bowling and Beatrice Blackwell Bowling.
Jim was preceded in death by his only brother, Duane Bowling.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Amadene Bowling; his daughter Jamie Williams and her husband Charles of Hatfield, Arkansas; two granddaughters, Ashleigh Shepherd and her husband Cody of Crosses, Arkansas, and Charlie Flaspohler and her husband Dustin of Greenwood, Arkansas; and four cherished great-grandchildren: Cash, Tillie, and Stetson Shepherd, and Augustus Flaspohler.
Jim served his country with honor in the United States Air Force for four years. He enjoyed squirrel hunting and spending peaceful days in the Big Fork Mountains in his younger years and retired from US Motors in 1998.
Jim was deeply proud of his family. He loved his daughter and took great pride in her accomplishments, as well as those of his granddaughters. He loved watching his grandchildren grow and flourish and was always eager for updates and new pictures of his great-grandchildren. Being their "Pawpaw" brought him immense joy.
He also enjoyed working outside, keeping his yard tidy, and relaxing in his recliner with Sudoku puzzles - which he nearly always completed. Jim loved listening to bluegrass and old country music. He especially enjoyed going to Branson to listen to live music. He loved his dogs, often taking them on walks, and took great joy in riding his motorcycle. Jim was a member of Christ Community Fellowship in Mena, Arkansas, where he appreciated the fellowship and community meals whenever he was able to attend.
Jim will be remembered for his quiet strength, love for his family, and the simple joys he found in everyday life.
Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Williams, Cody Shepherd, Cash Shepherd, Dustin Flaspohler, Jerry Foster, Orvin Foster, and Andrew Foster.
Services will be Wednesday, June 11th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Mena, Arkansas. Visitation will be general. Brother Bobby Blasengame will be officiating through the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of James, please visit our Tree Store.
