Troy Keiss, 76, of Smithville, Oklahoma, went to live pain-free with his Savior on October 31, 2025. Born September 7, 1949, to Earl and Inez Keiss, Troy grew up in a family that always trusted in the Lord during hard times. No suffering on this earth compared to the sacrifice God made for us and the eternal reward that awaits. He followed in faith, being baptized on August 6, 1961, at Sulphur Springs Missionary Church, where he attended faithfully.
Troy worked hard all his life, helping his family log and farm. After a short time working in a factory, he knew he wanted to be in the log woods. At the age of 20, he started with a pulpwood truck, and over the next 43 years, Troy and Pattie built a successful logging, chicken farm, and cattle ranch business-providing jobs for many people who became lifelong friends. His love for the outdoors was also seen in his hobbies of hunting and fishing. There was no such thing as spending too long on the lake fishing.
His greatest pride was his family. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kelvin and Jennifer Keiss of Watson, and Vickie and Chris Cormier of Russellville, Arkansas, as well as his lifelong friend and the mother of his children, Pattie (and husband John) Skeen of Smithville. He was "Papa" to grandchildren Cody and Paige Keiss, Tacey and Dallas Hardaway, Tanner Keiss and Megan Alexander, Katie and Zach McBroom, Abbie and Zach Wages, and Trey and JaDee Keiss. He was proud to be "Old Papa" to his great-grandchildren Adalie, Kynlie, Colter, Cason, Baylie, and Preslie Keiss; Zaden Keiss; Daylon and Sierra Hardaway; Paisley Keiss; and Rhett Wages. We know he will rejoice with the additions of Lincoln McBroom, Klayton Keiss, and Baby Keiss in 2026.
He admired his siblings and their spouses, who loved and prayed for him daily: Cathy and Max Deaton, Sue and Argie Parnell, Margaret and Argel Looney, Vernon and Sue Keiss, and Meryle and Theresa Keiss. He was blessed with several nieces and nephews and was grateful for the calls and visits during his illness from so many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his little sister, a niece, and two nephews.
The family would like to say thank you to the many who helped with his care during his 8½-year battle. From travel, doctor appointments, meals, a home, and a final resting place-thank you to his brothers, sisters, and Pattie. A special thank-you to his caretakers Diane
