Memorial services for Mrs. Judi Keiss, 80, of Carthage, Texas will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the First Methodist Church of Carthage with Rev. Kevin Otto officiating. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Hawthorn Funeral Home of Carthage.
Judith Anne Johnson "Judi" Keiss was born April 15, 1944, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was raised and schooled in Tenaha, later in 1957, her family moved to Carthage where she graduated Carthage High School with the Bulldog class of 1962. Judi studied music at Panola College and studied business, economics, psychology and education through Stephen F. Austin State University. Judi married Hugh Stevenson Keiss November 25, 1970, and they celebrated almost 40 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death in 2010.
Judi was a longtime member of the First Methodist Church of Carthage. She loved her bridge club, cross-stitching, her dogs and giraffes. Judi was loved by so many due to her vibrant, loving and colorful personality, and if you knew her, that personality had no brakes. Judi will be missed. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Bridges Johnson and Derrell Parker Johnson, her brothers Leonard Johnson and Scott Robinson.
Mrs. Keiss is survived by her loving stepchildren, Steve Keiss of Lawrenceville, GA, Jeff Keiss of Loganville, GA, Leslie Berlin (Jack) of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Ben Keiss (Melissa), Lucy Goforth (Matt), Matthew Keiss (Brandee), David Keiss, Lindsey Hale (James), and Greg Berlin; great grandchildren, Anthony, Alex, and Anderson Keiss, Annie Goforth, Elijah, Annabelle, and Grady Keiss; many cousins, relatives friends.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be mailed to First Methodist Church of Carthage, 201 Shelby St., Carthage, TX 75633.
