James Edward Boyd II, age 47, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021, as the result of a car accident where he was rear-ended by a drunk driver in Buffalo, NY. He was born in Erie on November 12, 1974, son of James and Robin Boyd.

James was lovingly known to his family as Jimmy and to his friends as J.B. He was a 1993 graduate of Strong Vincent High School and had played varsity basketball where he lettered for three years. He then attended IUP for three years and obtained a Microsoft Certificate as well as a number of other programming certificates from Tri-State. James worked as a computer programmer and technician doing contract work including jobs at the Federal and State level and for hospitals all over the country. He lived in Harrisburg for several years, recently relocating to Erie. James was the vice president and co-founder of LSelb Sports, a non-profit organization to help underprivileged children in Erie County. He also founded PA Digital, a company that built websites. James enjoyed Tai Chi, reading and researching any topic of interest.

In addition to his parents, James is survived by two sons, James Boyd III and Jeremiah Boyd, and their mother, Tanya Jenkins; one sister, Krystal Boyd; grandmother, Earlie Boyd of Benton Harbor, MI; one nephew, Christian Perez; one niece, Simone Boyd; best friend and business partner, Lamont Selby; a special friend, Kierelle McKinzie; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends will be received at Dusckas Funeral Services, Inc., 536 West 10th Street, on Tuesday from 3 pm to until the time of the Memorial Service there at 6 pm, conducted by Bishop Curtis Lee Jones, Sr. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family through the funeral home.
