James M. Brennan (72) of Ridley Park, PA passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025.
He was born and raised in Southwest Philadelphia, the son of the late Leo (Martin) and Betty (Elizabeth) Brennan, where he graduated from West Catholic High School. He loved spending his retirement from the Philadelphia Housing Authority working alongside his nephew and niece at the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles Games. He spent all of his spare time with his family especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his Georgia peaches. He loved fishing and would never miss a chance to be on the open waters with a fishing charter or dropping a line from a pier or bridge.
He was a dedicated life member of the Yeadon Fire Company, where he held many leadership positions since 1985. He was also a member of the Darby Fire Company since 2000, and the Leedom Fire Company since 2002. James gave decades of service to his communities as well as helping to shape younger generations of firefighters and EMT's even today.
James was the beloved husband of 38 years to the late Gloria Brennan. He was the loving father of Dawn Headley (Jim), Anthony Brennan (Kim) and Robert Perry; Cherished Grandfather to Stephanie (Jeff), Ashley (Chris), Matthew, Eryn, Cassidy and Anthony Jr. and Great Grandfather to Mia, Theo and Lottie. He is survived by his siblings Martin Brennan (Pat), Edward Brennan (Cathie) and MaryAnn DiIenno (Mike), his devoted companion Debbie Hanna, and his sister-in-law Marie Dilworth (Frank). He is predeceased by his brother Paul Brennan (Patty). Jim is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who became his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 9:30am St. Gabriel Church, 233 Mohawk Ave., Norwood, PA 19074, and to his Funeral Mass Tuesday, 10:30am in the Church. Fireman's interment immediately to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 626 Baily Rd, Yeadon, PA 19050. In lieu of flowers, Jim requested donations to be made to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852 in loving memory of his mother Betty.
