James Brew Obituary
1927 - 2025
James V. Brew, 98, passed away peacefully in his home on November 21, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on May 16, 1927, Jim was the son of the late James S. Brew and Maylah (Vaughn) Scalzo. He was the cherished husband for 68 years of his childhood sweetheart, Gertrude (Keenan) Brew.
Jim attended Danbury schools, graduating with the Class of 1945. He enlisted in the Navy, in May 1945, and served on the USS Wisconsin during WWII. Following his discharge from the Navy, Jim worked for over 30 years for the Barden Corporation, starting in the shop and later moving to the sales department. Always an avid sports fan, Jim played in multiple football, basketball, and softball leagues.
Jim is survived by his four children: Maureen Arsenault ( Donald) of New Milford, Dianne Morey (Robert) of Newtown, James W. Brew (Anne) of Oakton, VA, and Paul Brew ( Barbara) of New Milford, eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit at Cornell Memorial on Tuesday, November 25, 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 26, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 12 Cottage Street, Danbury, CT. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery.

Mr. Brew was a class act. He was my JV basketball coach when I was at St. Peter´s School and I had the pleasure of seeing him again along with his wife when I worked at the Danbury Fire Department Fire Marshal´s office at City Hall. My sincere condolences.

Gert volunteered her time in the Danbury Fire Marshal´s office where I worked. I met Jim when he came to pick her up,what a great guy! I again met up with Jim when his beloved Gert was in hospice where I volunteered. Jim´s love for his wife truly warmed my heart. A great couple ,a great man,rest easy Jim and say hello to Gert for me.

My Dad Bob Greeley worked with Jim at Bardens. They were good friends. Jim would always visit my mom and dad at bethel health care . I´m so very sorry for your loss . May God hold him in the Palm of His hand . Thinking of you during this difficult time.
