James Patrick Breytung age 92, of Algonquin, Illinois passed away September 25, 2025. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 14, 1932 the son of Herman and Nora Breytung.

He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War.

Jim was quite active at St. John's Lutheran Church in Algonquin, Illinois. Throughout the years he served as the Sunday School Superintendent, a Sunday School Teacher, and was a Head Usher for the Church, His greatest love was his wife and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce (Torok) Breytung; his children, James (Barbara) Breytung, Sandra Breytung, Paula (Jim) Clesen. his grandchildren, Heather (Bryan) Hertz, Lucas (Annie) Breytung, Jordyn Clesen, Heidi Clesen; his great-grandchildren, Emily (Katie), Kora, James and Porter.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, William Breytung.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 beginning at 10:00 AM until time of an 11:00 Funeral Service directly at St. John's Lutheran Church, 300 Jefferson St., Algonquin.

Interment Windridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial gifts be designated for St. John's Lutheran Church, 300 Jefferson St., Algonquin, IL. 60102.
