James Edward Broder

James Edward Broder, age 86, was called home to be with his heavenly father on April 16, 2024.

James was born September 28, 1937 to parents Michael and Sophie (Bartol) Broder. James was a devout Catholic and member of St. Patrick’s Church, which is now St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served in the National Guard and Army. He worked at Mercury Marine for 35 years, where he retired. He volunteered on many occasions and took mission trips to various locations throughout the country.

James also made lasting memories with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren by taking them on vacations and spontaneous visits as he was passing through on trips. He loved the outdoors, and could often be found gardening when he wasn’t hunting or hiking.

James is survived by his five children, Deborah (John) Moldenhauer, Barbara Broder, JoAnne Broder, Dawn Larson, and Andrew (Tracy) Broder; his brothers, Bob Broder, Dan Broder, Tom Broder; grandchildren, Ashley (Patrick) Gusman, Matthew (Ashley) Moldenhauer, Kristopher (Liz) Boeck, Stephanie (Stephen) Knudtson, William (Andrea) Rew, Michelle (Dennis) Updike, Brandy (Lucas) Allen, Heather (Michael) Kirschbaum, Nichole Morley, Austin (Megan) Broder, Tori Bruggeman, Miranda Larson and Cody (Baileigh) Broder; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Parker, Bryce, Destiny, Leland, Mila, Jaena, Annabella, Lexis, Marisa, Lydia, Gus, Grady, Natalie, Aspen, Theon, Beau, Carson, Kaylee; and one great-great grandson Knox. He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Sophie Broder; brothers, Dave Broder, and Ray Broder.

Visitation for James will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. 

Rosary service will be held at 10:00 am the following day, Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 228 E Blossom St, Ripon, WI 54971. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, with Fr. Jim Leary, OFM Cap officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, town of Ripon. A memorial is being established in his name.
