James Charles Brooks, age 73, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024. Born on September 18, 1950, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Jim was a beloved family member and a treasured friend to many.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, Charles Brooks, mother Florine Callihan Brooks, brother, Jerry Pack, and brother Joe Brooks. Jim is survived by Beverly Brooks; his children, Adam Brooks, Melissa (Ronnie) Herring; and his grandchildren, Joshua and Bayley Herring and Kaden and Brenley Brooks. He is also survived by his siblings, Johnny Brooks, Jack Brooks, Jody (Rita) Brooks, Paula Jane Davenport, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Jim had a distinguished career as a textbook salesman whose deep passion for people and unwavering dedication to education made a lasting impact on countless lives. Jim was driven by a heartfelt mission to ensure that every child had access to the books they needed to learn and grow. Outside of work, Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends, deer hunting and cheering on the Razorbacks.
A visitation will be held on August 21, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the North Little Rock Funeral Home, located 1921 Main Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas. The family will be present to greet and thank guests for their support and share in the memories of Jim’s remarkable life. A memorial service will be held on August 22, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or Arkansas Imagination Library in Jim’s memory.
Pallbearers include Alan Brooks, Bennie Dukes, Jody Brooks, Brett Howard, Christian Dukes, and Josh Herring.
