On February 6th, 2025, James Somerville Buddo, Jr. passed away at the age of 89. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, January 29,1936, to James Somerville and Mary Caroline Buddo.
James graduated from Johns Hopkins University and was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the US Army in 1957. He served in Berlin at the time of the Berlin crisis and was captain of the honor guard which greeted President Kennedy when he visited. Jim served two tours in Vietnam, earning a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star with two oak leaf clusters. He retired at the rank of lieutenant colonel in 1985. After retiring, he enjoyed serving as a long-term substitute at Kempsville High School. In 2014, he and his wife, Marion, relocated to
Wake Forest, North Carolina to be near their children.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marion Gioffre Buddo and their 3 sons: Robert J. and wife Elizabeth Dean Buddo of Charlotte, NC, J. Christopher and wife Mary Barnicle Buddo of Greenville, NC, and James Somerville III and wife Michele Naujoks Buddo of
Wake Forest, NC. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, his sister Mary Carole and husband Scott Riley of Seattle, Washington and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors from 12 to 1pm on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Bright Funeral Home, 405 S. Main St.
