James "Jim" Randolph Creech, 85

April 10, 1940 - March 10, 2026

Jim Creech passed away peacefully at home at the age of 85 on March 10, 2026. He was preceded in death by his father, J.R. Creech, and his mother, Elise Quick Creech, and his sister, Shirley Creech Polston. He is survived by his wife, Anne; his son, James Creech (Niall); his daughter, Suzanne Lynch (Tommy); and his grandchildren, Luke, Caroline, Hannah, and Clare, his sister, Maxine Creech White, and his brother, Tony Mitchum, and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was born in Marlboro County, South Carolina, in 1940, and spent most of his childhood in Gibson, North Carolina. After graduating from Gibson High School in 1958, he joined the United States Navy, serving for four years on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He then moved to New York City and worked for many years in the city's Department of Corrections on Rikers Island, retiring as an Assistant Deputy Warden. While in New York, he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Fordham University.

He met the love of his life, Anne, in Spring Lake, New Jersey, in 1973. They married the following year and enjoyed 51 years of marriage. After the birth of their children, they moved to North Carolina, where Jim worked at Halifax Community College as a criminal justice instructor and then at Wake Technical Community College as the Director of Law Enforcement Training.

Jim was a hard worker, committed to improving himself and providing for his family. He was an avid golfer for 50 years and could always find joy on the links. He was a member of the Cheviot Hills Golf Club in Raleigh for many years and more recently was a member of the Heritage Golf Club in Wake Forest.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 4-6pm at Bright Funeral Home.

Funeral Liturgy will be held at Saint Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 5801 Falls of Neuse Rd, Raleigh, on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 12pm.
