We celebrate and honor, the life of Mr. James Edward Burse, affectionately known as "Jody", who was born March 14, 1944, and past from this life on July 9, 2024. He was born to the late Elder Will and Deaconess Ruth Burse of Ware County, Georgia. He attended the Ware County school system and started working in his teenage years in the 1960's at the Burse's Service Station. He was joined in holy matrimony to Juanita (Chatman) Burse on July 14, 1961. Their marriage was so endearing that anything he needed in his home, he would call out his favorite word, "Juanita!" For over 63years, they shared a loving home together and from this union were born two loving daughters, Missionary Arnetrice D. (Pastor Dr. John E. Trueluck) of Hartsville SC and Sonya D. Burse (Earl Gibbs) of Waycross. He also leaves in loving memory, Michelle Reid, Waycross; Lit'l James L. Burse (Tiffany) of Jacksonville Florida, Shelia Carson (Odell) and Craig Black (Yolanda) and their children of Texas and Florida. He was also blessed with five grandsons and one granddaughter: JoWhaun Trueluck, JaBrai (Crystal)Trueluck, JyNijshua (Alysa)Trueluck, Michael Cobb, Quentin (Tanisha) Burse; and Danielle (Devon) Smith. He is gratefully survived by his siblings: Ruth (Ralph) Tate, Shirley Burse, Wallace Burse, Gertrude Bullock, Tony (Angie) Burse, Steve (Tracie) Burse and Willie Burse, who preceded him in death. He is especially blessed with nine great grandchildren: Amira, Jamison, Josiah, and Jasper Trueluck; Zihcheas White, Alexia, America, Quentin, Jr. Burse; and Payton Smith, along with aunts, uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Jody will always be remembered as a hard-working man who was truly committed to providing for his family. He was a truck driver for number of years at the Hires Lumber Mill, and he held a few other jobs until he landed a long 44-year career at Gilman Paper Mill, in St. Mary Georgia. After retiring from the mill, he took on employment with McKinney Medical Center to provide recreational transportation for elderly members for over 13 years.
Everybody knew Jody had a love and passion for cars, especially fast, muscle cars! However, one of his most faithful and dependable cars was an orange, Volks Wagon Beetlebug that carried him up and down the roads for over 200,000 miles! When he finally had free time, he took the opportunity to work on his Mustang 5.0LX that he kept in his garage. Every vehicle Jody ever owned had two things in common, they were paid off and they were always shiny and clean to the T.
Jody always cherished the moments he had with his two favorite women: his wife, Juanita and his mother, Ruth! Whenever and wherever he showed up, he was dressed in a pressed shirt, creased pants and a sporty cap or fedora-brim. And often times, when he came around his family in the country "Burseville USA," he always wanted some Bar-BQ Coon!
Around 2016 he started having some medical issues which lead to several years of progressive decline. However, by the grace of GOD he accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior in April 2022. We praise GOD for his confession of faith and believe we will see Jody again in the Resurrection!
