James Edward Byars, age 65 of Henry, TN passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at his residence. His body is to be cremated and his celebration of life will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Long Rock Methodist Church in Huntingdon, Tennessee. Visitation with the family is scheduled after 11:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of service.
James Edward Byars was born April 10, 1959, in McKenzie, TN to the late Rev. Glynn Dale Byars and Covie Lee Nanney Byars of Paris. On June 2, 1979, he married Lucinda Overcast Byars who survives in Henry, TN.
Mr. Byers was an avid collector of anything Blue-grass, especially stringed instruments. He enjoyed working in his garden and on his cars. James dearly loved his grandchildren and had a nickname for each one of them.
In addition to his mother and wife, James is also survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Hoffman of McKenzie, TN; son, John (Ashton) Byars of Paris; grandchildren: Shawn Byars, Hailee Clingan, Taylin Hoffman, Jayden Byars, Finley Byars, Aubrey Hoffman, Sara Byars, Madelyn Hoffman, Reed Byars, and Shepherd Byars; sisters: Mary Ann Rumley of McMinnville, TN and Deborah Keith of Nashville; brothers: Jimmy (Janice) Byars of Dover, TN, and Randy (Patricia) Byars of Paris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, James was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Crockett Byars.
