James Edward Campbell

Funeral services for Mr. James Edward Campbell, age 81 of Lineville, will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville at 2:00 PM with Bro. Steve Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Poplar Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Campbell was born and raised in Talladega, but has been a resident of Clay County for the last sixty years. Throughout his life, he was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to do whatever was needed to provide for his family. He began his working career at a pipe shop in Alexander City, followed by pulpwood operator and driver. He worked for Southland Manufacturing as a seam presser for several years and at Cal-Maine in egg processing, where he served as a plant operator and loader. He lastly dedicated 23 years of service to AGL as a general laborer. No matter the role, he approached his work with determination and pride. Outside of work, he truly enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing, planting flowers, and traveling with his family from state to state. Mr. Campbell enjoyed going to the casino from time to time, and buying lottery tickets. More than anything, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren. After the passing of his beloved wife, he continued to buy flowers for his granddaughter to show them his affection. He loved to aggravate in the most lighthearted way and never missed the chance to start a conversation with a joke. He was a man who was deeply kind, compassionate, and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He was survived by his daughter, Mona Campbell of Lineville; His son Jimmy Ray Campbell (Beverly) of Ashland; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; his sister, Mary Francis Thornton of Ashland; a sister in law, Rita Campbell of Ashland; a brother in law Doug Bunn of Ashland; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, L.J. Campbell and Hazel Agnes Johnson Campbell; his wife Martha Ann Campbell; a daughter, Nona Faye Campbell; one sister, Omie Jean Bunn; and two brothers: J.W. and Alford E. Campbell.

Active pallbearers will be Wade Campbell, Randall Haynes, Bobby Campbell, Royce Bunn, Kevin East, Frank "Peanut" Campbell, Charles Baker, and Anthony Foshee.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Josh Haynes.

His visitation will take place on Monday February 16, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.
