Scott Jordan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville on Feb. 3, 2026.
Graveside Services for Rev. Scott Allen Jordan, age 77 of Lineville, will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at the Lineville City Cemetery with Rev. David Holcombe and Rev. Winston Brooks officiating.

Mr. Jordan passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026 at his home. Born in Talladega, he was a lifelong resident of Lineville. He was a graduate of Lineville High School, and attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Religion from Samford University. He also met his wife of 54 years, Diane, soon after college. They then moved to Fort Worth, Texas for two years while Rev. Jordan did further studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Rev. Jordan was led to preach in Montgomery as well as numerous counties in the state over his lifetime. He eventually retired from preaching in 2019 from Rock Springs Baptist Church in Goodwater. Besides his call to ministry, he worked for the State of Alabama Unemployment Compensation Agency department and retired in 2010. Rev. Jordan enjoyed tending to his yard, making sure it was Home and Garden magazine ready. His home was spotless, and you could often see him walking his dog, Lexie up and down his street for their daily walks. He also was a history buff, and you would often find him watching the History Channel, from his recliner, resting his eyes. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to church, had a quick wit with his friends and family, and was very financially responsible and intelligent. He was a man of many words, often having a "Speech" prepared for his daughter and granddaughters ready to go at any notice. Rev. Jordan was very wise, and always wanted to communicate with his family about how much he cared for them.

Rev. Jordan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane R. Jordan; his daughter, Julie Jordan (Heath), all of Lineville; two granddaughters: Madison Jordan Tapley (Cody) of Ashland and Kinsley A. Cobb of Lineville; two great-grandchildren: Layla N. and Jordan D. Tapley; and his step-mother, Clara Jordan of Lineville.

He was preceded in death by his parents: James Allen Jordan and Susan Acada Perry Jordan.

Cody Tapley, Heath Stroud, Elvin Williams, Matt Tapley, and Ethan Wisener will serve as pallbearers.

His visitation will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville beginning at 12:30 P.M followed by the graveside service at 2:00 P.M. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
