James Capps Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rush Funeral Home - Pineville on Mar. 10, 2026.
Graveside services for Mr. James Newton Capps will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Capps Cemetery, Georgetown, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.

Mr. Capps, 86, of Georgetown, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 6, 2026, in his residence.

Today we honor and remember the life of a truly wonderful man, Mr. James Newton Capps, a loving father, proud grandfather, cherished uncle, and a dear friend to many.

Throughout his life, James was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He worked hard every day and believed deeply in providing for his family. He understood the value of a dollar and lived as a wise steward of what he earned. Through his example, he taught his children the importance of responsibility, discipline, and taking care of the blessings that God provides. These lessons will continue to live on through the generations that follow him.

More than anything, James loved his family. His presence brought strength, wisdom, and comfort to those around him. Whether through his guidance, the stories he shared, or simply the quiet example he set, he showed everyone what it meant to live a life of integrity, purpose, and faith.

God blessed James with many years on this earth, and he lived them with faith in his heart. He believed deeply in the Lord and in the promise that this life is only a temporary home. Because of that faith, his family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of our Creator.

James often spoke of his faith and the promises found in Scripture. One of the verses he especially loved, which he mentioned many times to his daughter-in-law, Rachel, was John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

He believed wholeheartedly in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and lived with the hope that one day he would be with the Lord.

The Bible reminds us in 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." James truly fought the good fight. He lived a life filled with hard work, devotion to his family, and faith in God.

Though his family and friends mourn his passing and feel the sorrow of his absence, they find comfort in the promise of God's Word. In Revelation 21:4, we are reminded that one day, "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain." It is with this hope that we believe James is now free from pain and rejoicing in heaven with his Lord and Savior.

James' life was full and meaningful. The love he shared, the lessons he taught, and the memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

While he will be deeply missed, his family holds firmly to the faith that this is not a final goodbye. One day, they will be reunited again in their heavenly home where there will be no sorrow, no pain, and no more parting.

Until that day, his loved ones will hold tightly to the memories he gave them and the faith that carried him throughout his life.

Mr. James Newton Capps will always be loved, always remembered, and greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by one son, James Capps; one daughter, Jody Capps; and his parents, Walter and Elise Capps.

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include one son, Wesley Capps (Renee); one daughter, Tina Capps; seven grandchildren, Weston Capps Summer Capps, Jorji Capps, Jeremy Capps, Shae Capps, Chime Rabbis, and Dusty Capps; and his cousin, Lane Capps.
