James Byron Cardwell
August 8, 1938 – August 11, 2025
James "Jim" Byron Cardwell met his Savior face to face on Monday August 11, 2025. He was born to the late James T. and Imogene Cardwell and raised in Kokomo, IN. He was married to Karen Fewell on April 19, 1959, who preceded him in death on October 11, 1989. He married Joyce Moore on September 8, 1990, who preceded him in death on June 22, 2013.
On June 27, 2014, Jim married Marion Bargerhuff in
Peru, IN. They instantly had a deep spiritual connection that was evident in the sparkle in their eyes and loving smiles they exchanged daily, even during his final breath. His last words to Marion were "I love you."
Jim proudly served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1960. Following his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he joined Delco Electronics Skilled Trade as a Pipe Fitter until his retirement in 1990. Jim enjoyed retirement life, spending time with family, watching his grandchildren's sporting events and making beautiful woodworking projects and keepsakes for his loved ones. Jim was devoted to God and his church. His church family was near and dear to his heart. He was always offering a helping hand and expertise to others. Jim was an avid golfer who proudly joined the 'hole in one' club twice. The friendships he made on the golf course were very special. His witty sense of humor was enjoyed by his golfing buddies and all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his wife, Marion Cardwell, Peru; brother, Pat Cardwell, Florida; daughter, Beth Ann Kuhlman, Kokomo; two sons, Monte (Melissa) Cardwell, Wabash and Byron (Jill) Cardwell, Kokomo; grandchildren: Kelly (Drew) Simmons, Oklahoma; Tyler Kuhlman, Michigan; Kylie (Anthony) Sebastian, Kokomo; Kristi (Jake) Ritchie, Kokomo; Nick (Colleen) Cardwell, Granger; Adam Cardwell, Kokomo; Betsy (Jay) Bousman, Pendelton; Hillary (Matt) Moon, Kokomo; Chandler (Carly) Guion, Pendelton; Liam Bargerhuff, Massachusetts; Kennan Bargerhuff, Kentucky; Hayden Bargerhuff, Kentucky; Joshua Bargerhuff, North Carolina; Andrew Bargerhuff, Florida; and 21 (soon to be 22) great grandchildren.
Jim is also survived by Marion's loving children and spouses, daughter Gerri Anne (Robert) Dupee, Tennessee; sons Kirk (Dawn) Bargerhuff, Kentucky and Eric (Jennifer) Bargerhuff, Florida; and Joyce's loving children, Jill (Kevin) Guion, Pendelton; and son, Jeff Moore, Martinsville.
Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a son, daughter and his beloved brother, Mike Cardwell.
While we will sadly miss our devoted husband, dad, grandpa, papaw, and great papaw, Jim, we are thankful that he's home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
