James Carrell, 86, Bloomington, Indiana, passed away October 14, 2025.
Born May 7, 1939, in Bloomington, Indiana. He broke "the surly bond of earth "on October 14, 2025 in his hometown "to meet the face of GOD".
Of the many titles that could describe our beloved Jim Carrell, the overarching term would be "CONSUMMATE TEACHER". He was known as son, brother, cousin, husband, father, Papa, Papa Great, GPa to a special few, as well as neighbor to many. His Spiritual family knew Jim as Preacher, Teacher and Brother in Christ.
Sharing his love of learning he enjoyed many occupations starting from Eberle Hardware, HVAC (when it was in its infancy), and Property Management. His greatest joy, as he would describe himself, a builder of many Churches of Christ, all along sharing the lessons he learned.
Jim was unexpectedly called Home while suffering an aneurysm, preaching at the Owensburg Church of Christ. As he slipped away from this life, he would continually utter "Home, Home, Home" (His Heavenly Home).
Preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Mary, and daughter Jayne.
Survived by his wife Shirley, sons Jeff (Debbie), Phil (Joyce), daughter Jill. Sister Kate Beyers, many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He will be missed by many who knew him from his willingness to always share graciously.
With Jim's memory in your hearts, please make contributions, in lieu of flowers, to Stonebelt.org or checks made payable to: StoneBelt 2815 E 10th St, Bloomington, IN 47408
