James Roy Carter, age 59 of Hendersonville, passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2024. James was born on October 29, 1964 in Joplin, Missouri to C.B. and Sally Carter. Even though he was born in Missouri, he was a Kansas son, born and raised.
James and his family are/were very talented musicians. He was a very talented guitarist and enjoyed all kinds of music. James enjoyed songwriting with his father, C.B., his dad would have the lyrics and James would have the rhythm and music.
James was a talented carpenter and truly enjoyed his craft. He worked for many years at Dreamliner Coaches, the world’s largest coachbuilder. James could build or rebuild anything that he laid his hands on. James had a great personality and loved to joke and kid around with his co-workers and friends. He and his co-workers were serious jokers but they all loved each other.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years and three hundred fifty-four days, Debra Ann Carter. Their children include: Aladeen Nicole Stoll of St. Louis, Mo, Shiannee Amber Carter of Hendersonville, Tn, Grace Deloren Carter of Hendersonville, Tn. Grandchildren include Damian Cruz Carter and James Benjamin Carter. His parents were C.B. and Sally Carter. Siblings include David Carter and his wife, Melissa, Aaron Carter and his wife, Christy, Esther Carpenter and her husband, Jonathon, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James is preceded in death by his sister, Tammy Ann Carter, grandparents, James and Sara Getman, Roy Stoughton, Estle and Bud Myers, uncle, Jerry Getman; aunts include Zora Ann Baldwin, Nancy Barrett; and his son, James Stone Carter
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside with Bobby Wilson officiating. Interment will follow Beech Cemetery with Matt Callaway, Mike Howell, Dave Rank, Damon Gray, Gary Favinger, and Doug Oppelt serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service, which is at 10:00 A.M.
