James Harold Carter, "Jim", passed from this life to his heavenly home on Monday July 14, 2025 at his home surrounded by the love of his family after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Jim was originally from Florida and lived in several states before landing in North Carolina, where he graduated from WHHS in 1990. he dreamed of running his own business and started and successfully ran Jim Carter Septic Repair and Pumping for nearly 30 years.

Jim was a man of faith and love, kind, generous and the most devoted husband and father to his family. Joy and laughter were brought to every situation and to every person he met. He loved people and loved making them laugh, always ready with a joke to tell. His authentic and radiant smile was endless and contagious. Jim loved to talk and truly never met a stranger or an enemy. His love , light and legacy will be remembered forever by his wife Melody M. Carter; children Maleah M. Carter. Maylin G. Carter and J. Camden Carter; his parents Joel and Deborah Cason and Ronnie and Judy Carter; brothers Ron and Joel Cason.

A family conducted celebration of Jim's life will be held at 6 PM Friday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Rutherfordton. The family will receive friends from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM Friday prior to the service. Rev. James Henson will officiate.
