James Chambers Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Klein Funeral Home - Champions on Dec. 3, 2025.
James Noel Chambers, 86, Spring, TX passed peacefully December 2, 2025.

He leaves behind his daughter Jaimie Lynn Gonzales, her husband Ricky and two grandsons Anthony (AJ) and Roman.

Visitation will be held at 9AM, service to follow at 10AM at Klein Funeral Home Champions location on December 10, 2025. Burial will be held in his hometown of Clute, TX at Restwood Funeral Home and Memorial Park at 2PM.

James (Jim) was born August 8, 1939, to Noel Dawson and Geoffie Mae Chambers in Dallas, TX. He had an older sister Lynell who unfortunately passed from sickness when she was 4 years old.

He was raised in Freeport, TX. His Father was a butcher and ran his own grocery store, his mother a schoolteacher. As a young boy, Jim would work in his family's grocery store as a bagger and cashier. He attended Brazosport High School and graduated in 1957. He then went on to graduate from Baylor University, making him a lifelong proud Baylor Bear! Sic' Em Bears!

Later he went on to work for Mobil Oil Corporation for 28 years as a financial analyst. This allowed him to travel the world including being Project Manager/Treasurer on The Yanpet Project in Saudi Arabia from 1984-1986.

Once retired from Mobil he spent his time being active in Champion Forest Church as a Sunday School teacher for his Men's 55+ group, coaching recreational soccer at Klein Soccer Club and owning his own sign business in Largo, Florida. He loved to watch Jaimie Lynn compete in select soccer, along with all of her other church and school activites. He took pride in having one of the best front yards on the block and loved animals, especially all of our cats and dog Bailey. Anytime he could preach the word or offer a lesson he would, he also had a beautiful singing voice that he took full advantage of on Sunday morning church service.

He was a great Dad, Papa and Friend and now is free and at peace with our Lord in Heaven. We Love you, Dad.

Jim and I were both involved in Mobil´s efforts in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Spending time together in that part of the world was a great way to relieve the work stress. Our time in Texas was a lot more fun as were the frozen Margueritas.

Jim spent much of his time talking about Jamie. She was the light in his life. I will miss our conversations He and my aunt Caroline spent many meals together in his last years. He would fill me in on their conversations.

Rest in peace my dear friend.

Had the privilege of meeting "Mr. Jim" a few years ago as we both worshipped together where he lived at Village Waterway in The Woodlands. Even though we'd have a crowd of perhaps 50-60 each week, Jim would always wait for me after service so would could have nice "after glow" chat about the Bible lesson that day, Baylor football (lol) and or the sermons he watched previously that day on TV! He was always encouraging, and while sitting near the back row during service, he'd joke "that's me, a 'backrow Baptist'" lol.

I will miss our chats and his friendship, and he is greatly missed at The Village. That said, I'm so grateful for his strong faith in Christ, and that fact that he has now "graduated" to where there is not longer health pain or wheel cheers; where Paul and Jesus called "Paradise"! Enjoy Jim!

Sincerely, Jim O'Connor
