James Chancholo Obituary
James J. Chancholo, known affectionately as Jim, passed away peacefully in West Roxbury. Born in the heart of Boston on February 16, 1947, he was the cherished son of the late James and Helen (Watson) Chancholo.
Jim was the beloved brother of Mary Hendry and her late husband Donald of Milton, and the late Ellen Courtney and her husband Francis of Milton. He was a loving uncle to Francis Courtney and his wife Krista, Jean Mazzotta and her husband Joseph, and Nancy Southwick and her husband David, and took joy in hearing stories about his grandnephew Ryan Mazzotta and grandniece Hannah Southwick.
Jim was a lifelong Boston sports fan, his love for sports began in his early years gathered around a radio with his mom and sisters cheering on the Red Sox and Bruins. He grew up in Roslindale and graduated from Roslindale High School in 1964. Jim worked for many years at Star Market and later in the restaurant business, including Fontaine's in West Roxbury. Known for his easygoing nature, good humor, and kindness to everyone he met.
Jim's Catholic faith was an important part of his life, one that was fostered from his youth by his mother. It gave him strength through the years.
Jim's final years were spent under the dedicated care of the staff at West Roxbury Health and Rehabilitation Center. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care he received over the past 16 years, ensuring that his days were filled with comfort, dignity, and respect.
Jim will be missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Services will be private.
