Mr. James Wesley Chitty, 75, passed away on February 28, 2026, at his residence in Grand Saline. He was born on March 18, 1950, in Plainview to Otho Burr and Lizzie Mae Taylor Chitty. Wesley was a lifelong resident of Grand Saline and a well-known member of the community. For more than 40 years, Wesley owned and operated Chitty’s Automotive Paint and Body in Grand Saline. He took immense pride in his craftsmanship and built a reputation for quality work and honest service.
Wesley had a deep love for old cars and enjoyed attending car shows, spending time at dirt tracks, and watching and following racing events. His passion for automobiles was not just his livelihood but also one of his greatest joys.
Above all, Wesley loved his family. He treasured the time they spent together and leaves behind many cherished memories that will be held close by those who knew and loved him. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Mineola. Wesley was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Sally Chitty, his two brothers, Bill Chitty and Bobby Chitty, and step grandson, Treyson Grey Momon.
Survivors include his three daughters, Kim Chitty of Grand Saline, Jamie Chitty of Grand Saline, and Leslie Carver of Mineola; step children, Abby Warnick and husband Michael of Mineola, Kelly Momon and husband Damon of Grand Saline, and John Tom Gibson and wife Cindy of Grand Saline; brother, Dennis Chitty of Larue; two sisters, Brenda Brousard and Carolyn Williams; six grandchildren, Hunter Ellis, Kimree Ellis, Jailey Chitty, Lillie Chitty, Lyric Gipson, and Dylan Carver; six step grandchildren, Neal Warnick and wife Mackenzie, McKenna Warnick-Manley and husband Daniel, Austin Bolin, Grant Momon and Trinity, Emily LaPrade and husband Jonathan, Andy Gibson and wife Madison; three great-grandchildren, Carter Ellis, Roy Taylor, and Raelani “Sissy” Chitty; eleven step great-grandchildren, Kasen, Kenleigh, Kamryn, Kohen, Micah, Maisyn, Trever, Tanner, Parker, Brooks Bennett, and Grace; special nephew, Marc Chitty; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service for Wesley is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Riverside Mission Church, Grand Saline, with Bro. Donnie Herring officiating, under the direction of the church and family.
