Faulkville – James Bennett Claxton, 87, born September 27, 1936 passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Brown's Nursing Home in Statesboro surrounded by his loving family.
Raised in Kite, GA and retired from Union Camp after 44 years of service. He was a loving father and papa not only to his family but to everyone who knew him. He loved to fish and loved going to his church Pineora Holy Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Lou Claxton after 67 years of marriage; parents, J.V. Claxton and Eula Mixon Claxton; brother, Bobby Joe Claxton; sister, Sara Dean Flanders; grandson, Tyler Ambrose; and son-in-law, Billy Stone.
Survivors include his; daughters, Debbie Stone, Dana Carol Claxton, Joy Lynn Ambrose, and Wanda Ryals; grandsons, Dave Stone (Jennifer), Paul Ambrose (Amber), Chase Ambrose, and Jared Waters (Sarah); 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Johnny Claxton (Martha); sister, Gena Odum; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2024 at the funeral home followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. in the chapel.
Interment will follow in Rincon Cemetery.

He was always so good to his girls. I remember him as the sweetest person growing up in Faulkville. I'm so sorry for your loss Debbie, Carol, and Joy. I miss our youth roaming those dirt roads. My heart is with you.
