James Nelson Cline
February 2, 1943 – May 16, 2025
James "Jimmy" Nelson Cline, 82, of Grayson, Georgia, passed away on May 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy shaped by hard work, quiet dedication, and strong personal values. Born on February 2, 1943, in Albany, Georgia, to the late Dorothy Christine Musgrove and Harry Glenn Cline, Jim spent much of his early life on a farm in Newton, Georgia, after his family moved there when he was just two years old.
Jim often spoke of his childhood on the farm, where he plowed fields and worked the land – experiences that instilled in him a tireless work ethic and deep appreciation for the simple, enduring lessons of rural life. He loved sharing those stories, especially when teaching his grandchildren how to drive a tractor and pass down a piece of that history.
A graduate of Albany High School, Jim was an athlete who ran track and played football. He later earned a degree in accounting from Georgia State University and law degree from Atlanta Law School, which led to a successful career as both a CPA and attorney. He was known for his professionalism, his commitment to doing things the right way, and gaining the trust and respect of colleagues and clients alike.
Jim was a lifelong Baptist but enjoyed attending First Presbyterian Monroe, where he found spiritual fulfillment and community. He also devoted time and leadership to causes and organizations close to his heart, serving as a past Governor of the Optimist Club and a proud member of Masonic Lodge #492.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Beth Eaton, and his daughters Jennifer Lynn Hodges (David) and Leigh Ann Bernot (late husband Rodney). He was a proud grandfather affectionately named "Pop-Pop" to Taylor Losito (Ryan), Ashleigh Kirby (Kyle), Jackson Gehman, Reegan Bernot, and Ramona Bernot. He is also survived by his sister, Kay Good (Bob), his aunt, Geri Peters (Steve) and numerous cousins whom he dearly loved. He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Elizabeth Cline.
Jim's legacy is one of hard work, laughter, dedication, and service. His influence remains evident – in the work he accomplished, in the lessons he passed on, and in the quiet strength he modeled. He will be deeply missed by all who have the privilege of knowing him.
A service to honor his life will be held at 11:30AM on May 31st at First Presbyterian Monroe GA.
In leu of flowers family has requested donations be made to First Presbyterian Church of Monroe GA or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Jim was a dear friend and client of 35 years. Over the years, I had the honor of helping him with computers and tech-and he, in turn, generously shared his wisdom with me, especially when it came to tax matters. I´ll always remember his kindness, intelligence, and steady friendship. He will be deeply missed."

Jim became such a good friend working in the office next door. It was a small world. We both grew up in the Albany GA area. We both tended large plots of land as kids. We both were accountants. His grandson Jackson was and is a good friend to our son Josiah. He was secure in his faith and he loved his family dearly and talked about them constantly. If you knew Jim, you know he liked to talk. He was real. You knew exactly what he was thinking all the time. We will miss you Jim! Thanks for making our world a better place!
