James "Jim" Clohessy

February 26, 2025

James "Jim" Clohessy, 70, of Brigantine, passed away suddenly on Wednesday February 26, 2025. Jim was born in Staten Island, New York, to the late Edwin and Rosemarie (Javaruski) Clohessy. Jim was a bartender for the majority of his life in Manhattan and the Atlantic City, New Jersey area. He bartended at Tango's at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino until his retirement. Jim was an outgoing, social and kindhearted man and was considered a friend to all he met in his life. Jim loved to travel in his younger years, loved music, singing and attending many concerts in his lifetime. He was always generous and there to help others. He was a member of the Jack Daniels Club, which he founded with a few of his buddies in his twenties.

Jim is survived by his daughters Jocelyn Clohessy (Dwane Webb), Justine Hoagland, Julia Clohessy and his son James Clohessy (Melissa); his grandchildren Jordan and Jade Yee, Leila Smith, Brielle and Brady Hopkins, Hunter and Vivienne Hoagland. He is survived by his sister Eileen Hanlon (Jimmy); and the mother of his four children, Joan. He is also predeceased by his step-father Anthony Mancino.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Life Celebration and visitation for Jim on Friday March 21, 2025, from 10:30am to 12 p.m., at the Keates-Plum Funeral Home, 3112 W. Brigantine Ave., Brigantine.

A Memorial service will follow at 12 p.m., at the funeral Home. Interment will be private.

In continuation to celebrate Jim's life, a reception will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the American Legion, 3218 N. Brigantine Ave, Brigantine.

I will always remember the great times we had @Trop.It was always more fun when Our "Slim Jim" was working.He always had a smile or something interesting to talk about at work.Gone to soon.Thank you Jim for all the great times at work..You certainly added to Trops workers ,no doubt about that your a Fello New Yorker.
