James Harvey Coe

Waynesville, James Harvey Coe, age 88, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. He was a native of Upshur County, West Virginia and came to Haywood County in the early 60's. He was the son of the late Orris and Lottie May Jones Coe and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret James Coe in 1983 and his second wife, Llewellyn Ballard Coe in 2010. One brother, Edward Perry Coe and one sister, Ruby Ellen Coe also preceded him in death. James owned and operated several restaurants in Haywood County; BBQ Pig, a steak house, tea room and a hamburger place. He was a member of the Christian Science Church and was an avid bowler and golfer. He was an Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II. He is survived by one son, David Coe and his wife Jennifer of Madison, AL and one daughter, Celine Coe of Winston-Salem, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Inurnment will be at Upper Crabtree Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
