James "Jim" Arnold Collins Jr., 80, of
High Point, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at his daughter's residence, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born and raised with a strong sense of pride, humor, and heart, Jim lived a full and vibrant life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, where his service in Army Intelligence at the Pentagon during the Vietnam War era reflected his dedication, discipline, and unwavering sense of duty.
After his military service, Jim attended Western Carolina University, where he received a bachelor's degree in business. He built a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and love for his family. He was a devoted husband of 49 years, a proud father, and an adoring grandfather-roles he cherished most of all. He coached Little League, served on the board of a local Presbyterian church, and donated regularly to various organizations supporting veterans. His wisdom and laughter will live on in the countless memories shared around the kitchen table, in the driveway tinkering with cars, on beach trips, or during a toast over his favorite whiskey or a cold Miller High Life.
Jim loved the simple joys of life-the hum of an engine, a good story, and time spent with the people he loved most. His spirit, generosity, and sense of humor made an impression on everyone who knew him.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Sharon "Sherrie" Duggins Collins; children, Blake Collins (fiancée, Caroline Gibson) of Thomasville, and Brooke Grimm (Chris) of Albemarle; and grandchildren, Olivia Collins, James Grimm, and Jackson Grimm, who will carry forward his love, lessons, and laughter.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service at 1015 Eastchester Drive in High Point, to honor the remarkable man they were so lucky to call husband, dad, and "Pappy."
Sparky Stewart, a dear family friend, will officiate the service. Following the service, there will be a celebration of life for family and close friends in the Life Tribute Center.
Condolences may be shared with the family on Jim's tribute page at www.cumbyfuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Tunnel to Towers or

Jim will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, TKE brothers, friends, and colleagues alike.
