James Todd Colter, aged 60, a beloved father, life partner, son, brother, friend, and Pa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, surrounded by his life partner and daughters.
A graduate of Barren County High School (1982), Todd was known for his hardworking and selfless demeanor, as well as his handyman skills and true friendship. He was a friend to all he encountered and spent his life working side-by-side with his beloved friend, Tim Harlow, completing various projects around Bowling Green, KY and beyond. When he was not working on a job site, Todd enjoyed spending time with his family and making everlasting memories with his grandchildren and dogs.
Todd leaves behind his loving family members, including his sister, Connie Colter; life partner Genia Colter; daughters Mindy Jo Smith - Glasgow, KY, Taylor (Nick) Dauray - Military, Michela Colter - Nashville, TN, and Shelby Colter - Bowling Green, KY; grandchildren Abbi Jo, Aubrey Layne, Easton Luke, Everett James, Braylon Troy, and Poncho. He is preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Marjorie Colter - Glasgow, KY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Homes for Our Troops, Inc. who builds homes for injured/disabled Veterans in times of need. Dad was an advocate for all things Veterans in his life.
The family will have a one-day visitation on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 9am to 10am (Family Only) and 10am to 1pm (family and friends) with Cone Funeral Home in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Todd wishes to be cremated following the visitation service. A celebration of life will come at a later date.
