Lamar Colter

Lamar Colter, 55, of Ashtabula, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Born September 18, 1970, in Ashtabula, he was the son of the late John Lewis Hunt and Fannie Mae Colter. A lifelong resident of the area, Lamar graduated from Ashtabula High School with the Class of 1989.

Throughout his life, Lamar worked in various factories, always bringing a strong work ethic and a friendly spirit to those around him. He was known for his impeccable sense of style-his impressive collections of hats and shoes were legendary, and he took pride in coordinating them perfectly with every outfit. Music was one of his greatest joys, whether it was R&B, rap, or classic soul. Lamar had a gift for connecting with people; he seemed to know everyone and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Above all, Lamar loved his family. Family gatherings and holidays were among the moments he cherished most, and he found his greatest happiness in being surrounded by those he loved.

Lamar is survived by his sons, Travis Lamar Colter and Tyreese Lamar (Zayra) Colter; his siblings, Terry Colter, Peggy (Reginald) King, Timothy Lowery, Aaron (Teresa) Colter, Raymond Colter, Brian (Michele) Sundstrom, and Charisse (Mustafa) Ali; his grandchildren, Zakai and Zavier; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula, Rev. Dr. German Womack, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
