James M. "Jim" Conant Sr.

James M. "Jim" Conant, Sr., age 78, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024.
Born in Washington, D.C. on November 13, 1945, he was a son of the late Eugene and Genevieve (Tobin) Conant. Jim proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He made his career as an automotive assembler at Chrysler, and later worked part time delivering car parts for Berrodin Auto Parts.
Jim had a passion for cars and especially loved Mercedes Benz. He looked forward to traveling to new destinations as often as possible. Jim relished any opportunity to spend time on the water, and had a special appreciation for Donzi boats. During football season, he could be found cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles every Sunday. Most of all, Jim loved his family and spent his most cherished moments with them.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Genevieve Conant. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret (Welch) Conant; children, James M. Conant, Jr. (Renee Arrington) and Nicole M. Conant, both of New Castle, DE; brothers, Tom Conant (Myrnea) of Emmett, ID and Michael Conant (Lily) of Las Vegas, NV, and Richard Welch of Newark, DE; grandchildren, James M. Conant III (Sara Vinson), Amber M. Conant, Anthony M. Conant, and Jordan Conant; great-grandchildren, Lorenzo Frank, Daisy Haven Conant; and grand-furbaby, Autumn.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. A committal service will begin at 1 pm on Monday, July 22, 2024, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
