AUGUSTA-Merton P. Conant of Auburn, Maine died on May 22, 2025 at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta. He was born March 29, 1934 in Turner by parents Frank & Donna Conant. He married Dorothy Brown in February of 1953. In April he entered the U.S. Air Force and served 20 years, retiring in 1973, honorably discharged.
He graduated from CMVTI in 1975 and spent many years in the building business, retiring at age 77. In 1995 he married Sally E. Small and they spent many wonderful years together. He was a member of Grace Lutheran church.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy, his son Shane, brothers Roger and Dick, sisters Thelma Nickerson, Lelia Moody, Cleo Sopka, Verna Hathaway
He is survived by his wife Sally Conant of Auburn, son Michael and Debbie Conant of New Gloucester, their children Ryan, John and Megan; son Shane (deceased) and Joy Conant and their children Sarah (and Keith) Chadburn, Andrew (and Sarah) Conant, Luke (and Charlene) Conant, Hannah (and Ryan) Greene, David Conant, Lydie Conant, great-grandchildren Autumn Chadburn, Nathan Chadburn, Emma Chadburn, Alaina Conant, Eleanor Conant, Helen Conant, Anderson Conant, Calvin Conant, Winston Conant, Evelee Conant, Beckett Greene, Ellowyn Greene, Huckston Greene

An hour of visitation will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 757 Summer St. in Auburn from 10-11am on Wednesday June 11, 2025 followed by a funeral service at 11am. Committal prayers with Air Force Military Honors will follow at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd. Augusta at 1pm. Those wishing, in lieu of flowers, may make a charitable contribution to the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta at www.mainevets.org Arrangements are under the care of Albert & Burpee Funeral Home & Cremation Services 253 Pine St. Lewiston, 782-7201.
