Dinah Ellen Haines, 72, of Lewiston, Maine, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at d'Youville Pavilion.
Born in Rumford on February 7, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Allan Hudson and Beatrice Gertrude (Williston) Haines. She was also predeceased by her brother, David Allan Haines.
She is survived by her brother, Richard Leigh Haines; sister-in-law, Trudy (Barkhouse) Haines; nephew, Andrew Haines; and niece, Laura (Haines) Crockett, with her husband, John, and their children - Julianna, Justin, and Jayce. She also leaves many cousins.
Dinah will be remembered for her kind and caring nature, her warm heart, and the love she showed her family. She cared for her mother for more than fifteen years, always putting others first.
A creative and talented person, Dinah played the clarinet, crocheted, sewed, painted, and loved to garden. She made and gave baby sweaters and afghans to her niece and nephews, and also sewed a dress with matching purse for Julianna when she was little - a keepsake her family will always remember.
Dinah loved her dogs and enjoyed peaceful days at the beach. She often sent visitors home with flowers from her garden, just as her mother once did - a simple act of kindness that said so much about her.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the dedicated and compassionate staff of Rumford Hospital, d'Youville Pavilion, and Andwell Hospice. They will always be remembered for the dignity with which they treated Dinah and for the warmth and respect shown to her throughout her care.
A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society (https://gahumane.org/give), Andwell Hospice (https://andwell.org), or Jehovah's Witnesses (https://www.jw.org).
Arrangements are under the care of Albert & Burpee Funeral Home Cremation Services 253 Pine St. Lewiston, 207-782-7201.
